Spiritual Practice

Worship

At First Parish in Brookline our central spiritual practice is worshiping together. Every Sunday at 11 am (Summer Services start at 10am) we gather in a historic sanctuary to worship. Most Sundays children (up to grade 6) participate in the first 15-20 minutes of the service and then move to their Religious Exploration class. However, once a month we celebrate a Multi-generational worship service designed to engage all ages. These include Homecoming, Thanksgiving Feast, Holiday Pageant, Easter, and our Coming of Age Challenge Worship.

Every service is followed by a hospitality hour and other gatherings. View the Worship Calendar.

SOCIAL ACTION

Each social action initiative highlights a special worship service around that topic. These are always informative, moving, and a call to action.
A special collection will be raised during each service.

BLESSING OF THE ANIMALS

Led by Rev. Eliza Blanchard, this worship service will celebrate the mutual gifts animals and humans provide one another, especially nurture of the spirit. All ages and faiths are welcome. Please honor the comfort and safety of others and your companion by insuring he/she will be able to behave appropriately at all times. Leashes and containers may help, and photographs are an effective way to bring your companion's spirit into worship.
All welcome / Sunday, October18, 2015, 5:00-6:00 pm, in Pierce Hall

SPIRITUAL AUTOBIOGRAPHY

UUs are committed to lifespan faith development in community. We know that sharing our stories is an opportunity for developing this community of faith. Come join in a small group (10 maximum) for a series of creative explorations into childhood, adolescent, and adult sources of faith. Write between sessions, be respectful of confidentiality, and be playful.
All welcome: Fall schedule TBD

DAYBREAK YOGA

This group has met for 14 years for Kripalu Yoga and meditation—at an intermediate level of practice. Props are supplied though students like to bring their own mats. Our own Martha Curtis leads the group. She is certified and offers the practice as a service to fellow church members. Donations welcome.
All welcome / Tuesday and Friday, 6:30–7:45 am / Lyon Chapel
