Reimagine Policing in Brookline

The Task Force to Reimagine Policing in Brookline will explore and recommend new approaches to public safety and policing in Brookline. The Task Force will utilize a data-informed approach to interrogate our current model and provide a distinctly alternative approach to public safety.

Brookline Select Board’s Committee on Policing Reforms

The charge of this committee is to review and identify provision of the policies and procedures, aspects of training and education, and the practices and methods of supervision of the Brookline Police Department that, where necessary and appropriate, can be improved and updated. The Committee’s review shall be designed to determine changes that would result in better policing and wider support in the community, with special attention to support from Black and Hispanic communities, immigrant communities, residents of Brookline Public Housing, the LGBTQ community, and residents from other vulnerable communities. First Parish member Ron Wilkinson is a member of the committee.

Griffiths Sekou is an international public speaker, preacher, scholar, with over 25 of experience working in grassroots community organizing and development, human rights advocacy, health equity, and cultural regeneration. Her research intersects gender, ritual, performance aesthetics, and political identity formation through and within social movements.
