Social Action Forum
The Social Action Forum is a collection of people who participate in one of a variety of social action projects through our church (see below for our current list).
Each year we select four ministries to highlight through a series of month-long initiatives, designed to:
- Expand the number of FPB members actively engaged in FPB social justice work
- Develop the expectation among all FPB members that every Sunday they will have an opportunity to share and learn about our collective social justice work.
- Introduce all FPB members to four kinds of social justice work: service, education, witness, and advocacy.
- Identify opportunities for FPB members to do social justice work on schedules that fit different needs and interests: one-time, annual, monthly and weekly.
- Deepen our members’ identity as members of a faith-based social justice serving UU church by focusing attention of all FPB members on a single social justice issue.
- Build a stronger relationship between FPB and the wider community through our social justice work
- Engage more members in social justice work sponsored by UU-affiliated organizations, e.g., UUA, UUUM, UUSC, and MBD
In the 2009-2010 church year, we will focus on:
- Green Initiative (October 2009)
- Hunger Initiative (November 2009)
- Economic Justice (March 2010)
