Looking for a place to live out your values?

UU principles and our First Parish mission call us to live out our values as neighbors and spiritual citizens together – through education, through service, through witness, and through action.

For some of us, First Parish is the primary community for our social action efforts. We find spiritual meaning and nourishment from that work.  For others, our work and/or volunteer efforts outside of First Parish are where we live out our social justice vision and we look to worship and our community here at First Parish primarily as our home for spiritual nourishment and connection. And many of us seek both, here in community.

There are many touch points for Justice in Action at First Parish

One day events or walks to build community and/or raise money for great causes such as People’s Cafe Dinners, Walk for Hunger, the AIDS Walk, the Pride Parade, Louis D. Brown Mothers’ Day Walk for Peace. Most recently, we helped create and hosted “Finding Joy, Surviving Hate”, a book panel and LBGTQ+ Resource Fair celebrating trans teens and trans rights.

On-going action to address some of our toughest challenges lie in three active committees:

The day-to-day window on First Parish members’ justice work is our Google Group, a clearing house for educational and action opportunities outside FPB. It’s our real-time, cyberspace bulletin board, meeting place, water cooler, town crier all in one. Email from your preferred email address to join the group, hear what’s happening, when it’s happening.

Some long standing Partnerships and Memberships include:
